Observations Friday Evening Apr. 11/13 (UT 12 April 1997)
04:13:08 UT Culmination of #24323 GPS 2-27 r 1. Mag estimated
at 3.2 (4.1 predicted from standard mag).
04:15 - 04:30 Watched for Lacrosse 1, should have been a near-zenith
pass at 04:16. Nothing was seen. Rob Matson suggested
that the satellite I saw the previous night on a path
nearly that predicted for Lacrosse 1 may have been
#5730, Aureole 1 rocket. While the observed object
was approx 1.5 magnitudes brighter than predicted
for Aureole, that is most likely what I saw.
