1996-027A (#23857) BEPPOSAX The expected "dangerous" situation described in reports from Indonesia is extremely exaggerated. This is a "normal" decay without any special risks. The inclination of the orbit is 3.95° important only for equator very near regions. The Italian X-ray satellite have a mass of 1400 kg with dimensions of 2.4 x 3.6 x 18 m. The last figure represent the solar array. There is 26 kg Hydrazine - from the attitude control system - on bord - not unusual for a powered down satellite. I expect the decay on 26 April +/- 03 days in good agreement with the estimates from my Italian colleagues.
