The person who forwarded me the information, Mitch Petree, has forwarded me a copy of the article concerned and the reaction of the person quoted in the newspaper article who observed this without knowing what it was can only be described as total panic. Most unfortunate considering that the event was predicted both by Calsky and Space-Track! The video referred to is the same one which was played on ABC news. Mitch has also kindly agreed to my forwarding the following, some of the links may already be known to you: <Quote> I also found a trail of web sites about the launch and reentry. A friend's son saw it, too, and wrote in to CORDS about it, causing the "Sighted" marker on the Reentry News page: http://www.reentrynews.com/28630.html I also found these links: a space news article on the launch: http://spaceflightnow.com/news/n0503/30proton/ another space new article on the launch, more specifics on payload: http://www.universetoday.com/am/publish/proton_launch_express_am2.html?3032005 desc. of Proton K rocket - lists 30 March launch at bottom of page: http://www.russianspaceweb.com/proton.html desc. of Express comm. sat. - the payload of the launched Proton K rocket; lists 30 March launch at bottom of page: http://www.russianspaceweb.com/express.html description of Proton K from ILS: http://www.ilslaunch.com/proton/0protonk/ <unquote> He also attached a copy of the description of his friend's sighting description resulting in the report to CORDS: I will try and obtain permission from the author to relay this.
