Mag -9 flares are sometimes predicted, but only if you hold your mouth right. 8-)

Here's an example of a flare with mag -9 at the center of the track in his area:

    Observer's Location: Nagapur ( 18.8670°N, 76.4330°E) Local Time: Universal Coordinated Time -5:30 (GMT + 5:30)

    05 Apr19:38:33 -0 53° 140° (SE ) 32.8 km (E) -9 Iridium 94

And here are two -9's at my house:

    Search Period Start: 20:07, Thursday, 17 December, 2009 Search Period End: 21:07, Thursday, 24 December, 2009 Observer's Location: K4DET ( 37.7122°N, 77.5256°W) Local Time: Eastern Standard Time (GMT - 5:00)

    18 Dec 17:44:15 -9 65° 50° (NE ) 0.7 km (E) -9 Iridium 96
    23 Dec 17:18:09 -9 72° 61° (ENE) 0.1 km (E) -9 Iridium 96

and 2 mag -9's at the center within 2 days at my place:

    Search Period Start: 15:10, Friday, 23 April, 2010 Search Period End: 16:10, Friday, 30 April, 2010 Observer's Location: K4DET ( 37.7122°N, 77.5256°W) Local Time: Eastern Daylight Time (GMT - 4:00)

    27 Apr 20:21:21 -0 72° 125° (SE ) 33.4 km (W) -9 Iridium 8
    29 Apr 20:09:12 -1 71° 123° (ESE) 28.9 km (E) -9 Iridium 35

It's interesting to note that there are 2 Nagapur's in India according to Heavens-Above's database, and they're fairly far apart:

    Name Region Latitude Longitude Elevation
    Nagapur ? 20.383 75.250 692 m
    Nagapur ? 18.867 76.433 450 m
