Can anyone help with an ID to match this observation? Thanks in advance, Dan

Anyone know who I all call to confirm a huge reentry this a.m. (1130 GMT)
over the Pacific? (8/22/96)

Dan,
As I said it was about 11 am GMT. We were about 1200 miles due east of Japan
headed east. The trail of glowing debris passed from our 7:30 to 1:30
position The swath was wider than a "shooting star" with many individual,
trailing pieces burning. It disappeared beyond the horizon (probably still
in the upper atmosphere). I called NORAD and the duty Sargeant said they
didn't have a record of any non-secret debris falling.
I'm just curious (as were the many other pilots who chatted about what they
saw over the radio). I would appreciate any help you can muster. Thanks,
Gary
