Mir "Seen" via Altair-2

At 0550 gmt this morning a short transmission was seen from Mir via the
tracking satellite Altair - 2 at 16 degs west.

Transmissions were very weak here in the North West of England....however as
the satellite operates on a spot beam of one degree centred on Moscow, its
not surprising!
At the time the Space Station was passing south of Buenos Aires, and
conditions were not at their best.
I presume this heralds the start of the delayed docking process later today.

As the Geosat at 16 west was inclined 0.36 degs at the time of the
transmission, conditions should be better on the next orbit AOS , at around
0720 GMT .

The frequency to watch for is 10830 mhz.

(Thanks to Chris Van Den Berg in Holland for alerting me to this replacement
satellite last month.)
