What are these Iridium satellites I keep hearing about? What are their uses and what are their orbits like (geostationary?, eccentric orbit?, etc..) ? It also appears that they can become quite bright at times. Is this the exception or the norm and is it predictable? Also, what is the average magnitude of an Iridium sat on the "average" pass?
