Thanks for the Sputnik elements, in particular to Sven.

I've just tried it, but it doesn't fit with the list of passes I've
got from contemporary publications:
Sydney: 10:09 Oct. 8, 1957 Moscow Time.
Boston: 12:56
Beijing: 15:59
Moscow: 22:17
Madrid: 01:49 Oct. 9, 1957 Moscow Time.
Helsinki: 01:56
Berlin: 08:31
According to TrakStar (and your orbit):
1957 Oct 08 07:09:00 55 01'39" N 15 41'10" W 384.814
1957 Oct 08 09:56:00 10 17'28" N 168 11'07" E 312.724 ECL
1957 Oct 08 12:59:00 23 15'03" S 105 40'02" E 515.064 ECL
1957 Oct 08 19:17:00 44 58'40" S 5 56'32" W 682.252
1957 Oct 08 22:49:00 22 46'09" N 20 54'11" W 263.089 ECL
1957 Oct 08 22:56:00 47 28'24" N 3 37'58" W 220.851 ECL
1957 Oct 09 05:31:00 64 29'58" N 29 05'33" W 302.121 ECL
I've also tried it assuming that the times above indicated are not
Moscow Time but UTC, Local time, etc... It didn't work.
Perhaps the orbit of the satellite itself was much different. :-??
PS- Is there any URL out there where we can find other "classic"
TLEs ?
