Tonight, on 03 August 1998 at 20:17:30 UTC I observed a flare of Mir of magnitude -1 lasting for approximately 5 seconds. From my current location at 51d 18m 33s N 9d 16m 19s E Mir was seen due west in the constellation of Canes venatici. Given that this is only the second time in at least a hundred observations that Mir exhibits a flare, I thought that this deserves a mention to SEESAT. Bruno Tilgner =
