Reading your report about the incredible pass of USA-86,
I remembered that on Aug. 22 1998 I made a similar
observation, when USA-129 (96- 72A/24680) soared through
the sky. Unfortunately I never reported this.
Normally it was magnitude +2, but some very bright flashes
(magnitude -3) were observed at the following times:
20:21:18.7 UTC
20:21:31.4 UTC
from 20:23:16.7 until 20:23:40.7 UTC
20:24:36.8 UTC
