I'm not (yet) much good at all at trying to get positions, but perhaps it
will be helpful -- or at least of interest -- to report that this morning
(about 10:06 UTC on 12 August), USA 144 (25744, 99-28A) made consecutive
binocular-field crosses with Cosmos 1151 (11671, 80-5A) and Cosmos 2251 Rk
(22676, 93-36B) within a few seconds of one another. I had found USA 144
earlier and then switched to try (successfully, I believe) to find AMS 4/DMSP
F4 (11389, 79-50A); then I went back to USA 144 again and observed the two
crossers. Both USA 144 and AMS 4 were easy objects in binoculars this
morning, definitely brighter than +5. The location was 30.314N, 97.866W,
270m.
I hope that all the solar eclipse-watchers had great success!
I managed to see a fair number of pre-maximum Perseids this morning and hope
to do so again tonight. Sorry to hear about the clouds in the midwest USA.
