UNID Precedes SL-16 Rocket?

Tonight I was waiting for SL-16 Rocket when I observed a UNID flare to
magnitude +2 for about 3 seconds. The UNID flare occurred at 1999 August
14, 04:55:47 UTC, moving north-northwest, between Hercules and the head of
Draco, in what seemed to be the same path as SL-16 Rocket. It preceded
SL-16 Rocket by almost exactly 2 minutes.

SL-16 Rocket put on a spectacular show, easy to see with the naked eye in
severe light pollution. It was pulsing approximately 3 times/second
(guess), magnitude +2. Also observed 2 bright Perseids at the time shown
above.

By the way - I need to replace my QuikTrak software with something that is
Y2K compliant. Any recommendations? I like QuikTrak's ability to output
passes (visual and other) to a text file, to vary the speed of the real-time
presentation, and to compute mutual windows between two locations. I would
appreciate recommendations, and your *reasons* for the recommendations, but
please send them to me directly, not to the list. I am running Windows 95
on a Pentium II.
