I know that was the plan when the mailing list & sci.astro.satellites.visual-observe newsgroup were set up. However, not everyone can get to general news; I can only post to the group on evenings & weekends from my home PC. Newsgroups are also stalked by spam-bots; if I post to the group, I get more spam for the next few months! So the SeeSat-L mailing list is safer, more private, & offers more timely access to information. Is it worth setting up separate e-mail lists for "I saw ISS" and positional / flash observations? Or the observations could be uploaded to an ftp site? Whatever is good for the observers ...
