Observing site: Carrs Mill Park, Howard County, Marlyand 39.3181 N, 77.0542 W, 100mASL I acquired the shuttle about 6 minutes after launch. It was about 0 mag. By T+6.5 minutes it was about -2 mag with a contrail. Since the shuttle was lit by the sun until T+ 7 minutes I was hoping for a trailing cloud but I saw none. A few seconds after MECO I saw 2 or 3 bright flashes which I assumed was the flameout. About 30 second after MECO there were several flashes which I assumed was the main fuel tank being jettisoned.
