Possibly getting a bit of topic but it will explain why I will not be
able to observe!
The latest alert this morning say"unless the power utility manages the
current electricity situation there is a risk of a total blackout in
South Africa which can last for WEEKS!" I guess its one way to
recover the dark sky and see the milky way again but my system requires
power - my petrol generator is not powerful enough to include my
tracking setup to it. This situation is expected to last at least
another 4 to 5 years and was brought about by the present government
failing to replace aged and failing power stations with new power
stations - one scheduled to come on line 5 years ago is still nowhere
near completion due to strikes and other power stations are now failing
due to lack of regular upkeep and qualified staff. Unfortunately this is
not the only problem with South Africa today - the entire
system-hospitals/education/civil service etc is rapidly failing.

Enuf said and Ill keep quiet from now on - just feel utterly frustrated
at the inability to do tracking when its clear so please excuse my
ranting. I could not even follow the complete flight of the recent ORION
mission !
