Larry NEW SCHEDULE FOR DELTA II LAUNCH OF POLAR SATELLITE HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif., Feb. 20, 1996 -- The McDonnell Douglas Delta II launch of NASA's Polar spacecraft is now scheduled for Friday, Feb. 23, from Vandenberg Air Force Base (VAFB), Calif. The launch window opens at 3:23 a.m. and closes at 3:44 a.m. PST. The launch date has moved from Thursday, Feb. 22, to allow time to replace a second stage nitrogen solenoid valve. Nitrogen is used in a redundant attitude control system. NASA television coverage of the launch begins at 2 a.m. PST on Friday. Based on a 3:23 a.m. launch, a post-launch news conference will be held at 5:30 a.m. PST and will be carried live. NASA Television is carried on Spacenet 2, transponder 5, channel 9 located at 69 degrees West longitude. "If you're not looking up---you're looking in the wrong direction."
