NEW SCHEDULE FOR DELTA II LAUNCH OF POLAR SATELLITE

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif., Feb. 20, 1996 -- The McDonnell Douglas Delta II
launch of NASA's Polar spacecraft is now scheduled for Friday, Feb. 23, from
Vandenberg Air Force Base (VAFB), Calif. The launch window opens at 3:23
a.m. and closes at 3:44 a.m. PST.

The launch date has moved from Thursday, Feb. 22, to allow time to replace a

attitude control system.

NASA television coverage of the launch begins at 2 a.m. PST on Friday.
Based on a 3:23 a.m. launch, a post-launch news conference will be held at
5:30 a.m. PST and will be carried live. NASA Television is carried on
Spacenet 2, transponder 5, channel 9 located at 69 degrees West longitude.
