Early in the Shuttle flight program I was told that encountering noctilucent
clouds during entry might result in the loss of the Orbiter. I have always
assumed noctilucent clouds were most prevalent in the near-Arctic latitudes
and therefore were not a threat. In the interest of covering all bases, is
there any way of checking if any of these were present in the decent path
    last Saturday?
