I beg your pardon if this was already discussed here. According to this 22 Dec 2011 article that I just found today: http://news.discovery.com/space/mystery-space-ball-crashes-in-nambia-111222.html a "Composite Overwrapped Pressure Vessel" (COPV) http://www.nasa.gov/centers/wstf/laboratories/composite/index.html was discovered in Namibia "around mid-November" 2011 some days after witnesses heard a series of explosions. Looking at past re-entries according to the Aerospace Corp., the following look like they could be candidates. First is designation, then catalog number, then re-entry date: 2011-062B 37858 01-Nov-2011 Namibia less than half an orbit before predicted re-entry -- http://reentrynews.aero.org/2011062b.html 1980-087B 12069 28-Oct-2011 Namibia 2-3 orbits after predicted re-entry -- http://reentrynews.aero.org/1980087b.html 1990-049A 20638 (ROSAT) 23-Oct-2011 Namibia about one orbit after predicted re-entrym -- http://reentrynews.aero.org/1990049a.html Does Space-Track store old TIPS messages anywhere? I didn't find any easily. Ed Cannon - Austin, Texas, USA _______________________________________________ Seesat-l mailing list http://mailman.satobs.org/mailman/listinfo/seesat-l
