The NEAR page update announced by Craig Cholar contains a link to an
Excel spreadsheet with EFG lat/lon/height values, that translate easily
to SkyMap rocket trajectory ( after I have fixed some bad time cells)
With this, SkyMap users can produce accurate graphic predictions for
the NEAR spacecraft on Jan.23 from 00:00 to 15:00
A section of the .trj file for MapTime= 01/23/98 06:00 UT until 08:00
with 1 km or larger rounding, is given last in the mail, ( I hope these
1.5 kB are not considered out-of-line ), the full length and precision
file (MapTime=00:00 UT until 15:00), and amended Excel sheet is
available at

You'll need SkyMap 5.11 or earlier, or 6.1,
since a bug in 6.0 aborts after the first point.
Mike has written a program for generating vectors, and conversion to
text predictions by a modified SeeSat program. I added some SkyMap
readout below at the right (for Mike, 0.1 deg above eps Per at 6:28:50) :
