This is Paul Maley reporting observations from Puerto Montt, Chile. I
attempted 4 passes in one night of STARSHINE II from 48.5 degrees South, 76
degrees 5 minutes West at the following times on 12-30-01: 0225UT, 0401UT,
0537UT and 0713UT. These passes were observed on the ship ROYAL PRINCESS. On
pass one, one flash of 2nd magnitude observed in northwest, and one -1
magnitude flash videotaped at max elevation position of 64 degrees, azimth
    26. On pass 2, one 2nd magnitude flash seen. On passes 3 and 4 {46, 167 and
53, 330 elevation and azimuth with a full moon present}, no naked eye
flashes were seen. All observations were without optical aid.
A previous observation of STARSHINE II sent from the Falkland Islands
apparently never made it to the list. So, I will dig it up and send it
    tomorrow.
    Paul
