I finally was able to videotape two satellites separately crossing the moon early this morning from Houston. After many attempts that were thwarted by lunar phase, twilight, contrast, range, animals, camera or telescope problems, carlights, atmosphere and weather, a grand success was achieved. The first object was Cosmos 2297 rocket (23405) seen at 10:32UT Jan. 9, 2001 and was about magnitude +8. The second was Cosmos 2292 rocket (23279); it appeared around magnitude +9 and was in the field for about one second. I have uploaded three images of the 23405 transit to my web site at http://www.eclipsetours.com/sat/index, then click on SATELLITE CROSSES THE MOON. Paul Paul D.
