    Based on my own experience with simple camera mounts:
    
    Since the satellite passed just as the exposure was started, I suggest that
    either the camera caused the jump, or Jack was handling the camera/telescope
    at the time.
    
    A periodic drive error has also been suggested, but the track length is only
    about 0.3 seconds, and I don't think they are that frequent.
