On the sci.astro.satellites.visual-observe newsgroup there's a report of an observation of Starshine 3 decay from Minneapolis, Minnesota, by Scott Armitage. It appears to have been posted at 4:01 January 21 UTC. I saw a dozen satellites from outside my office last night, no binocs. It was cold (for here). This is our coldest night of the season, lower than -2 celsius now. (I really don't know how people can stand to observe in truly cold countries! But I recently read a report of someone observing Quadrantid meteors in far northern Canada. Brrr!) I'm hoping to see Space Shuttle in about 30 minutes. I was pretty disappointed to find out that I had managed to use an erroneous elset for those evening predictions I got the other day. I don't peruse elsets before using them to get predictions. I hope that doesn't become a frequent necessity!
