Subject: Satellite Interest Group

Hi Everyone

I am a real new chum to internet and even more to this mailbox, dont even
know if I am getting things right so I guess this is more a test than
enything but dont want to waste it just the same.

A few months ago now I started locally, it was originally intended that way,
a Satellite Interest Group for all those interested in Weather, TV and
Amateur Radio Satellites. This group has taken off in such a big way that I
now have sub servers in just about every callarea of VK along with some ZL
members as well.

One exciting thing about this group is that at least 90% of those in the
group have never been exposed to Amateur Satellites before and just want to
know how, why and where etc etc.. The disappointing thing is that very few
of those quite active on satllites have not joined this is a shame as these
Radio Amateurs would have so much that they could pass on to those who are
desperately wanting it. The group in a few months has grown from a few
locals to around 200 all over VK and uses Packet Radio and the CCLIST
servers to contact each other.

Whilst I have been playing with satellites for some time, even ran a
satellite gateway here for a few years, this really is so little that I know
and so much that I would like to myself. It is my intent that I will not,
like other similar groups, allow this one to die. With my limited knowledge
and help of groups, like yours, I intended to make this group work and to
get more up on the birds, even if limited, where ever possible.

The reason for this message if it makes it to the right place, knowing that
one should ask permission first before transfering anything to packet, would
anyone really object if I was to pull selected interesting and often very
informative messages out and send them to the group. These messages would
NOT got to @ VKNET or even worse @ WW (dread this one) but only to each
member of the Satellite Interest Group.

I will if required approach each person each time I see a message but if I
could, proving all care is take, get to be able to use some of the traffic
you each are sending without doing so it most certainly would be greatly
appreciated..

Well lets see if I got it right, as mentioned above this is all new to me.

Thanks in advance
