    After MECO and I think after ET separation, fuel left in the pipes in the
    shuttle is dumped through the main engines. It has always been this way as
    far as I'm aware. Lighting and timing probably made it more visible this
    time. I think it is a few thousand pounds of hydrogen and/or oxygen.
