This evening (02:02 UTC, 6/7/96)I was able to view Mir for the first time in
a long time. For the first time I was able view debris associated with Mir
using 7X35 binoculars. I saw at least ten faint objects (Mag 6 or 7)
preceding Mir by about 10 degrees to less than 1 degree. Reminded me of
Santa Claus's reindeer pulling his sleigh (sorry, that's what first came to
mind). Those on the West Coast of the U.S. later tonight should get a nice
view this evening. Perhaps this debris is old news to those who have viewed
Mir recently but it was my first opportunity to view Mir debris.
I note that OIG released additional debris TLEs 23888 through 23890 today.
