The original poster didn't mention his setup, but I assume he's using some kind 
of image enhancer on his video hardware? Is it Type II? If not, then this would 
severely limit (so I'm told) both the amplitude and the minimum magnitude of the 
"stellar" objects you detected, i.e., satellites and background stars.

I'm far from an expert, but there's a growing community of people doing video 
meteor observations, including AUTOMATED REDUCTION of the data. You can peruse
