Hi all,

As of today the VSOHP site in Germany no longer exists. This was
inevitable since I have left the Max-Planck-Institute and now work at
Stanford University/Lockheed Martin. A new site has been established in
Palo Alto, California, USA. Its addresses are:

http://www2.satellite.eu.org/satintro.html
http://www2.satellite.eu.org/seesat/index.html

Note that this is the same as the generic addresses of the site in
Germany. The following addresses will no longer function:
http://www2.plasma.mpe-garching.mpg.de/sat/satintro.html
and any variations that include the German address.

The new site in California should make access of the VSOHP much easier and
faster for people from North America. The site in Palo Alto is
almost identical to the site in Oxford which remains at

http://www.satellite.eu.org/satintro.html

The only differences remain the BWGS, PPAS, Flash pages which are at www2
but can also be found through www.

Neither of the sites currently offers predictions, but that should change
within the next few months. The www site will offer predictions for
Europe, whereas the www2 site may offer predictions for North America.

On a related note, we *are* aware of the problems hypermail seems to have
with addresses from (mostly) aol customers. Our hypermail archive of
SeeSat-L is a accessible at
http://www2.satellite.eu.org/seesat/index.html
Lately a bug in hypermail has caused attribution of certain messages
to the wrong authors. We apologize for the inconvenience (sorry Don :-).
We intend to start using a different html-package next month that should
solve the problems we've been having with hypermail. We still appreciate
messages from people when the hypermail archives seem to stop updating
(which has happened often in the recent past). Just send a message to
bart@satellite.eu.org if you're sure hypermail has stopped updating. There
can be an hour between your receipt of a SeeSat-L message and the update
of the hypermail archive.

And finally, we expect to also move the physical location of SeeSat-L
away from Germany next week. If you keep using the generic addresses, such
as: SeeSat-L-request@lists.satellite.eu.org (for administrative requests,
such as unsubscribe -- in the SUBJECT please), the transition should be
smooth. So, please, even though the return address of SeeSat-L still says
cds.plasma.mpe-garching.mpg.de, ignore that and send message to the
generic address only:

SeeSat-L-request@lists.satellite.eu.org

This will prevent frustration on your and our side.
We'll let you know when the change takes effect.

If you have questions regarding the VSOHP, contact:
jeff@satellite.eu.org, bart@satellite.eu.org and neil@satellite.eu.org

For administrative questions regarding SeeSat-L (or any other lists we
maintain): bart@satellite.eu.org and neil@satellite.eu.org
Contacting both (or the three for VSOHP) of us is suggested, a more rapid
reply is probable.

To end upon a personal note, many thanks to the plethora of people who
sent me TRACE elements!

Cheers,
Bart, also speaking for Jeff and Neil.
