As far as I am aware, there are two messaging satellite payloads from =
Germany.

IRIS-1 is an attached payload from Sait Systems. It is a technology =
demonstrator for a European 4 satellite "constellation" of messaging =
satellites for overseas charity workers, other personnel in remote =
regions and small boats. It is the commercial development of the ESA =
LLMS project.

SAFIR-2 from OHB Teledata. This is another messaging technology =
demonstrator, possibly with an asset tracking function as well.

I would have thought that they'd suffer some pretty stiff competition =
from Orbcomm and LEO One USA (the latter has yet to launch any birds).
