Hi folks. I've been looking for a way to locate survey markers and thanks to
Raoul's posting I tried calibrating my Garmin GPS 12 today.

Standing astride GV5890 in the rain I took only one set of readings on the
Garmin. The hours, minutes and seconds were all in agreement with The NGS
Data Sheet. The fractional seconds were off 0.027 seconds in latitude and
.076 seconds in longitude. The altitude reading was 6 feet low from the
    published 32 feet.

It seems to me these readings must be within a meter or so of the marker.
Consumer GPS accuracy sure has changed.
