There were no re-entries of potentially visible objects around that time.

Bright meteors are much more common than re-entering objects.
One useful observable difference is that satellite re-entries
are always rather slow events taking 60 seconds to cross the
sky, rather than the maximum 10-15 seconds for a meteor. This
is because a re-entering satellite is only going 8 kilometers/second
when the most likely speed for a meteor is around 30 kms/sec.
