This looks like the Bugbear worm which "steals" email addresses from the address book of the infected computer. It is likely the latest variant which is doing a lot of damage. It attempts to disable anti-virus programs among other things. It goes without saying never to download an unknown attachment, and to keep anti-virus software up to date and run a check frequently. Fixes are available on the Symantec site and maybe others (not checked.)
