James Sebolt reported a no-flare failure from Iridium 38. I had one of those last October (predicted -8, saw nothing). Rod Sladen reported last September that it appeared that Iridium 38 (97-069E, 25043) was replaced by Iridium 82 (98-051A, 25467): http://www.rod.sladen.org.uk/iridium38and82.htm In the mccants.tle file, Iridium 38 is flagged with a "?". With Mike McCants' iridium.tle file he distributes a small status file, iridium.txt, that also has Iridium 38 flagged. But Iridflar doesn't "know" that, so this is one of a very few that Iridflar gives flare predictions for that is in fact unreliable. I haven't checked heavens-above.com to see if it gives predictions or not for Iridium 38. I hope Rod is still watching the Iridium constellation status, because his Iridium page is a great resource: http://www.rod.sladen.org.uk/iridium.htm Ed Cannon - ecannon@mail.utexas.edu - Austin, Texas, USA ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subscribe/Unsubscribe info, Frequently Asked Questions, SeeSat-L archive: http://www.satobs.org/seesat/seesatindex.html
