One thing I do not understand is, when do TLEs began to qualify as being in
an archive? I suppose that varies with the site. What if I want one from a
week ago? Are they available at CelesTrak?

I'm using TheSky software and like using CelesTrak because it's easy and
fast to get and import data. But I cannot find week old data.

I'll have a look at Calsky later.

I'm actually looking for the TLE that would be appropriate for early on the
day of the Venus transit, i.e. June 8.

    Thanks for all the help!
