    Amen!

After an inch of rain over the last weekend, I should have the scope
uncovered and be ready to do just that.. And it'll be just in time for a
    bright Moon.. Fitting..

And just to elaborate on my "science" post.. I never once opened one of the
Hi Res images in this group. I have seen them in my ISS Group and I had seen
Thierry's "Vega looks like Soyuz" way back when and stopped looking from
then on.. I don't mind if people post pictures or videos. I know whose to
watch and whose to delete without opening. All of this is a non issue to me,
though I have said "Science over Pretty Pictures" in all 2 dozen groups I am
    in.
I hold no grudge or ill will towards anyone who does do pretty pictures,
though it has always been my dream to get them to extract the Science from
the images before they are ruined by the techniques used to process them..

    :-))

That said, I agree completely that this whole episode would have been a
complete non issue if everyone was out observing and posting flash reports,
positional observations, or "I just saw.." reports..

PS.. Ted does a great job with this group. It's generally a thankless job
that goes unnoticed until there is an "issue".. Solving them on the fly is
never foolproof and ignoring them is worse..

Here's a thought - delete the dozens of emails on this subject (which are
certainly not science, unless you consider them a social science experiment
gone awry), shut the computer off, go outside and observe a satellite. It
may not be pure science, or meet Ted's rules, but it will keep my email clog
free for one night. My delete key is about to pop off the keyboard.
