Yes, Bjorn is quite correct.  Whilst I was trying to calculate the
elevation for the reflection condition at a specific solar depression, the
fact of the geometry is that the satellite evelation must be zero!
The equation I gave

elev = solar depression - 2.alpha

thus become{s

solar depression = 2.alpha

the condition to be met for shadow entry on the horizon in the azimuth
(or ant-azimuth!) of the Sun.  My calculations are thus in error and
should be ignored.  Sorry!
