The Satellite Encounters page Jeff Hunt referred to seems to only
talk about passes that are physically close, but Ralph McConahy
specifically asked about _visual_ encounters. I too, have wondered if
there is a program that can list the close visual encounters on a given
night, as I enjoy watching those 'slow ballets'. I can eyeball the
output of Mike McCant's Quicksat and make note in advance when some
obvious visual encounters will occur, but most of the time I only see
them accidently.

By the way, Dejanews is still showing only one posting to the new
newsgroup; I thought I heard here that others have posted to it.
Also, I just checked the 'browse groups' feature on Dejanews,
and the only groups it lists under the sci.astro.* domain are:
sci.astro.amateur
sci.astro.hubble

If I ever post to the newsgroup, I'll probably use Dejanews to do it
since my ISP has terrible Usenet feeds. As long as you have access to
the web, you should be able to use Dejanews or similiar services to read
and post to newsgroups, instead of relying on shaky ISP feeds. But
then again, I'm not sure that Dejanews is currently getting everything
at this point either; I guess we'll have to wait and see how things go.
