Speaking of Skymap and magnitudes, I consistently get many more sat
predictions of mag. 3.0 or brighter in a given evening with Quicksat than I do
with Skymap. I usually use the molczan elements file and select the Skymap
option to use magnitudes in the ephemeris file if present (they ARE present in
the molczan file right???). My default magnitude setting I just leave at 6.0.
If I choose to use the satmag.dat file for standard magnitudes I still get the
same skimpy number of predictions. What gives? Is the quicksat.mag file just
overly generous when it comes to standard magnitudes? Or perhaps skymap's
satmag.dat file is missing many satelites, which causes the 6.0 default
magnitude to be used when the sat is really brighter? Any help would be
greatly appreciated.
