    Hi,

On the 5th of March we obtained a high quality image of MIR as it passed
over the UK. You can view the image, together with details of the equipment
    used at

    http://www.btinternet.com/~mikejtyrrell/astrophoto.htm

Also on these pages we have an image of Cosmos 2172 displaying a flash
    (see recent SeeSat message
    http://www2.satellite.eu.org/seesat/Feb-2001/0055.html)

These are our first experiments with satellite observing and having
calibrated the Cosmos image against background stars we believe the orbit to
be somewhat different to the predicted one from recent TLEs. Should such
observations be reported to enable corrections to the TLE? If so how and
    where?

    Mike Tyrrell & Philip Masding
