As the symbol of one space programe heads towards its demise, some news relating to the start of the new kid on the block, as far as manned programmes are concerned. On March 15 the Shen Zhou 2 orbital module did its second orbital maintenence manoeuvre, countering orbital decay. Using SATRAK I calculate that the manoeuvre was about 05.04 GMT when the module was over 31.6 deg S, 38.7 deg E. Pre- and post- orbital manoeuvre data are below. Looks like the Chinese space programme is certainly the one which deserves the kind of monitoring and especially analysis which we used to give to the Soviet programme .......
