Some observations, about 15 miles by road from W entrance of Joshua Tree National Park, CA. Estd. location below. Date 3/2 local = 3/3 UTC. Tentative ID because time not noted: 06061 Cosmos 494 r low in the E near alpha Hya. About 19:09 local = 3:09 UTC. Near mag 3, bit brighter than predicted 4.5. This was not accurately recorded because we were actively observing comets C-2001 Y1 Juels-Holvorcem (nice in binoculars low in the NW) & C-2002 X5 Kudo-Fujikawa (faint in binoculars low in the SSW) before they disappeared. 27432 Feng Yun 1D r. Short flare to mag 1 as it passed over alpha & beta UMa in the NE a few degrees after it came out of eclipse. 19:28 local = 3:28 UTC. Also saw 23088 Cosmos 2278 r, 18748 Cosmos 1908, & 13149 Cosmos 1354 r at one power.
