Shadowed sat transiting the lit Moon

    On reading George Roberts' reply to Ramon van der Hilst on the possibility of seeing a geo transiting the Sun, I decided to put forward a questing long lingering in my mind:
    
    Why can I see a lit satellite (even naked eye) and cannot capture the same shadowed satellite transiting the lit Moon with my 5inch scope?
