If you were calling on 143.625 I _certainly_ hope you were one of the
authorized ground stations - that frequency is outside of the amateur radio
band!

Shannon has been fairly active as R0MIR (the 'club' call sign for Mir) on
continental U.S. passes, especially descending node passes during
reasonable hours.

The Mir crew uses Moscow Time so they're asleep for much of the time when
U.S. hams are awake.

Still - for the purposes of seesat an cosmo-astronaut (what is the proper
terminology for a U.S. space traveller aboard a Russian space station?)
doesn't have to be awake for us to observe them go across the sky!
