Hello all,
Together with the local astronomy club I observed the proton
rocket tonight at about 20h27 UT in Ostend, Belgium. ( coords in signature
, only 30 km from Tristan )
The rocket was about a minute to a minute and a half too late.
The sat was flashing from mag -2 to invisible. At 21h56 I tried
again but saw nothing, but this was a less favourable pass. ( it may have
been in the shadow, but I was hoping for a nice reentry ;)
On a side note, I just saw some Mir footage showing what I presume was a soyouz,
inflating a balloon which immediately tore open, after which the soyouz
had to perform various manouvers to jettison the balloon. Does anyone
know the purpose of this experiment ?
PS : sorry if this appears twice, having some modem trouble
