    Hello everybody,
After a long period of rain and overcast conditions it was good to
have clear skies on the 26th and 27th of April.
Among other objects I observed a bright flare from COSMO-SkyMed 2
on the 26th. This was predicted by CalSky and probably reached around
magnitude -3 against a twilight sky.
On the 27th, among other objects, I observed an object flaring as
it headed for the eastern horizon. Later, consulting CalSky, I found the
object corresponded to time, position and direction of 1981-021C.
Further research found this to be the core of a BES-5 nuclear reactor
ejected from Cosmos 1249. This is the same type of device that caused a
few problems in Canada a couple of decades ago. It's comforting to known
that this type of thing is still floating around up there.
