Peter Wakelin has observed his UNID again, confirming that its mean motion is near 2.006 rev/d: http://satobs.org/seesat/May-2008/0037.html Here are updated elements, using the designation assigned by Mike McCants: 08628A 0.0 0.0 0.0 4.5 v 1 90081U 08628A 08128.60175929 .00000000 00000-0 00000-0 0 03 2 90081 62.8204 215.2087 6814408 276.8656 16.0137 2.00587822 00 Arc 2008 May 07.12 - 08.14, WRMS residuals = 0.006 deg Peter raised the possibility that this could be one of the three Trumpets, launched during 1994-97. It may well be, and the other two may be among the other UNIDs currently tracked in Molniya orbits. I plan to devote some time to studying their orbits and observed characteristics, in an effort to identify the Trumpets, and determine their correct designations. This effort will be aided by our having tracked and reliably identified two of the Trumpets for several years, most recently in 2003.
