    In the video report at the site below, beginning at about 1m20s, the
    emergency management coordinator commented that markings on the debris
    identify it as related to Ariane, and a black box is shown with the name
    Ariane. The third photo of the slide show on the same site appears to show
    the same box, but in a wider field, that provides more context. It is nor
    stated, but I guess implied that this box is part of the debris.

    I recall, vaguely, that some (all?) of the Atlas V fairings are European
    made. If so, and if the same manufacturer happens to provide fairings for
    both Ariane and Atlas V, could there be markings that state Ariane, yet were
    flown on an Atlas V? Wild speculation.
    
    Since this is somewhat off topic for our list, may I suggest that those who
    wish to pursue it, do so off-list, and then post a final conclusion/summary,
    if/when possible?
