With the advent of the second Mir/shuttle mission (visible later this
week over the US, Europe and Japan and throughout the week at southerly
latitudes such as South Africa, Australia and New Zealand) it seems
appropriate to announce....

After a number of alterations the Visual Satellite Observer's home page
can now also be found at

http://www.physics.ox.ac.uk/sat/satintro.html

where you'll find various goodies associated with satellite observing -
an introductory guide, descriptions of various phenomena, Mir and
shuttle information along with predictions for various areas. You'll
also find links to related resources. There are web archives of past
seesat-l (the satellite observers mailing list) posts and details for
would-be subscribers. The site is also mirrored in Germany at

http://www.rzg.mpg.de/~bdp/satintro.html

where you will find the archives of the Belgian Working Group for
Satellites (BWGS) - note the hostname change (from
www.ipp-garching.mpg.de) for those of you
with old bookmarks/links.

Various software to aid the observer, along with mirrors of the main
element set sites can be found at the accompanying ftp archive:

ftp://ftp.physics.ox.ac.uk/pub/sat/

All seesat-messages are now automatically archived into the ftp-archive
in the directory /pub/sat/seesat/
