Sputnik-40 signal

Just received the 145.825 Mhz signal from the just released Sputnik. Used a
portable receiver outside, and shielded it so nothing should be heard until
the sat was due north. It was heard almost exactly when Mir was due north of
my position. So it must be close by the station. Still waiting for elements.

The signal is a beep, frequency of 1/ sec. Easy to hear. Dissappeared prior
to predected encounter with the horizon.

This was a 11:50 AST pass, 15:50 UT.
