Today at around 5:24 EST or 10:24 UTC Nov 18, 2000 I saw a unid transit the moon. It only watched
by mistake. I decide to look at the moon for awile, when I noticed a flash to the west of the
moon, near the unlit limb. Then a few seconds later, it flashed on the moon's dark limb, which was
slightly visible thanks to reflected light from the earth, or easthshine. I downloaded Alan's
SATBASE.TLE file, and ran it through skymap. Nothing comes up around that time. The only other
thing it could have been was a plane, but if it was then something is wrong with it. Since planes
have stobe lights and lights on the wings, I would have seen them. But this mistery object, was
only visible when there was a bright flash, through my binoculars. I have seen airplanes before,
and it didn't behave like a airplane. It was moving slowly, such as a high altitude sat such as
geo, gps and others. It was only visible when the was the bright flash. I went outside after
noticing it, and didn't see any aircraft in the area. I was inside looking through a window, when
I noticed the flashes, I saw two of them. So it must have been some type of sat, a flashing rocket
or something with rotation. Wish I knew what I saw, as it was neat.
